Iv'e just had a search now. Your definately right that its a Crane Fly. I wasnt sure what it was so iv'e corrected it. :-)

Nice shot, but an error on ID.

I don't have the time right now to do a search to get the proper species,
but I can tell you from the mouthparts, this is definitely one of the cranefly group.
If you want to try and find it, I suggest ya go to bugguide.net, search "cranefly" then try to find a match to the wing shape, markings & veining.)

Many more people everywhere call all Nematocera mosquitoes. I agree with you, it may be Tipulidae (cranefly) =)
